Through Lin's Eyes 

I was born in Calgary, Alberta, and growing up, I have lived in several areas in Southern Alberta. Now I reside in Chestermere Alberta, with my very supportive husband, and together we are the minions to two cats.

 

As a child, my travel was mainly to Vancouver Island visiting family, camping in the mountains and central Alberta. This provided me with many subjects to choose from, but without a camera, I would draw what was in front of me or from other printed sources.

 

My love of travel takes me to many parts of the world, where I am like a curious child, exploring the nooks and crannies of each new location. Now armed with a camera, I have copious amounts of photographs for my inspiration. Even with the thousands of pictures, there can never be too many, so I am usually armed with a camera!

 

Art lessons began in school, continued with private lessons, classes at the formerly called Alberta College of art (ACAD, which is now called the Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts), and guidance from various artists. These avenues have provided me focus, methods and styles helping me achieve what I am looking to express with my own work - this is always evolving.

 

Over the years, I have entered several competitions such as the Calgary Stampede, Chestermere Fall Fair placing first and second for some of my submissions; displayed a few pieces in art shows; the Strathmore Stampede Wine Cellar Art Show; the Gallery on 3rd, in Strathmore, while the Chestermere Library had me as a feature artist for the month of March in 2019. Several sales and commissions resulted from these adventures.

 

When asked about what I do, I create work that I not only love but there is passion in the end results. I work in many mediums and my topics are varied because I am a curious explorer. It is very exciting to be spending as much time possible working on my forever love…Art...with a side of photography thrown in!
